DaySpring Cards

kinkadeE-cards, e-vites, e-mail and many other online options have reduced the number of  individuals sitting down with pen and paper to write a card for a birthday, anniversary, or any other special occasion. In the midst of this digital dilemma, card companies like DaySpring.com are still finding ways to encourage the consumer in a lost art of making others feel special with the delivery of a real card — one that is handwritten and opened the old-fashioned way without the click of a mouse.

When I was at BlissDom09, the Nashville blogging conference earlier this  year, I had the opportunity to go to dinner with several new ladies. Over a course of Mexican burritos, I learned that two of the women sitting near me worked with DaySpring.com. I met Stephanie Bryant who is a Business Development Manager and Holley Gerth who writes the actual messages in some of the cards. Sitting at the table’s end with Shannon from Rocks in My Dryer and Jo-Lynne, Holley shared with us the joys of using her faith in her everyday work to encourage others.

This month, Stephanie was kind enough to let me know about the new snazzy designs DaySpring is offering and sent me several sets of beautiful cards of all shapes and sizes. At my request, she included a box of prints by Thomas Kinkade, known as the Painter of Light. I love his work. Such detail!

When the cards arrived, we immediately broke out a couple for my daughters to send to their grandmas. It was the perfect opportunity to teach my children the process of making others feel special through the written word.

Looking over the DaySpring site, I found this lovely explanation of their cards on their website:

The Ministry of Cards
We believe that greeting cards are a personal expression, a tool for communication, and a means for building and strengthening relationships. We also believe that Christian greeting cards in particular are something more; they are a ministry!

It is our purpose at DaySpring not only to create cards with quality art design, but also to create cards with a message. This message does something more than convey the thoughts of the sender; it conveys the light and the love that are found in Jesus Christ. We desire that DaySpring cards express the love that flows from God’s heart into our hearts and out to the hearts of others.
